There's still one more "reward" waiting for the player in the Unknown Egress. As the player reaches the end of this area, they'll come face to face with one of Demon's Souls later bosses, the Dragon God. Unfourtently, players won't have the chance to take down another boss early on, as a cutscene plays once the player gets too close.

The cutscene shows the towering Dragon God noticing the player and quickly disposing of them with a swift punch from a fist bigger than the player themselves. The player brutally skids over the ground, their skull eventually bursting with blood. Needless to say, the player is quickly killed by the Dragon God, and the game progresses as normal, with the player being resurrected at the Nexus.
